How Prep Soccer Academy Began
In 2010, with the rivalries between their schools at its apex, head coaches Jeff Katz of Brookline High and Roy Dow of Newton North High were paired together to co-coach the Eastern Mass All-Star team. That day, as they discussed how their teams rose to championship levels, Jeff & Roy realized that their players’ journeys really began in the summer, and not the week before tryouts. Their shared philosophy about player development and desire to build the depth of their programs led to Jeff and Roy launching Prep Soccer Academy that summer. It was a natural fit to also invite the Lions of Newton South to attend camp. Eight years later, the girl’s side of Prep Soccer Academy has also evolved, with over 60 young women attending sessions each summer.[spacer]
Our Philosophy
Every coach at Prep Soccer Academy shares a common bond, a deep passion for soccer and more importantly a commitment to the young people we coach. We believe in the benefits of offering a camp during the June/July period, which helps high school players of all ability levels get ready for the Fall season. We work with young athletes to improve their technical skills and fitness levels; as well as give them an overall awareness of what is expected at the highest levels of high school soccer.
Over the years we’ve discovered many benefits to players from different communities training together. We appreciate our athlete’s commitment of 3 nights a week during the summer and we enjoy helping them improve their game and knowledge of the sport. We also decided from the beginning to open our camp doors for anyone who wants to improve their soccer game. We try to keep our rates as affordable as possible and we offer scholarships to students for whom our tuition may present a financial hardship to their families.
More than just coaches, we are teachers and mentors. Our greatest joy is seeing our former players develop as people and succeed in life. Prep Soccer Academy has helped us as coaches, learning from each other and strengthening our coaching and mentoring skills. We understand choosing the right camp is a family decision.

Our approach

At Prep Soccer Academy, Monday & Wednesday sessions will consist of three phases: warm up, game-related technical training and fitness/injury prevention.
